I make paintings that deal with space, perspective, and memory. I am thinking about a history of images and the ways in which depictions of space inform and influence how we navigate space in the real world. Lately, my paintings have featured invented or constructed spaces, such as those found in puzzles, mazes, video games, and computer graphics. These fictitious landscapes are mapped into memory in the same way as a childhood home or a familiar neighborhood. The components of these spaces are compiled from graphic icons and 3D rendered objects situated in environments built out with approximations of linear perspective or axonometry. Convincing us of the reality of their interiors, they become a site for shared experiences.
